Based in Strood, all of the classes offered by the Medway Tai Chi Society are 100% free of charge. The only ‘cost’ to you is your time and effort.

At the Medway Tai Chi Society, we practice a variation of Yang style Tai Chi.
Our syllabus covers the following:

Why do we not charge?
Simply because, we believe that the benefits of Tai Chi practice are so rewarding, that they should be readily available to everyone, regardless of financial situations.
What is Tai Chi?
As a health exercise, it helps to improve circulation, posture, balance and deep breathing. It helps to strengthen the body, without making excessive physical demands. It is, therefore, an ideal system for slowing down the negative effects of aging.
As a method of relaxation, Tai Chi seeks to release excess tension from the muscles. It also helps to calm the mind and relieve stress. Involving various methods of Daoist meditation, Tai Chi calms and focuses the mind, relieving stress and promoting harmony.
As a method of Self Protection, Tai Chi was developed from the famous Shaolin Kungfu methods, and adapted to reflect Taoist theory. It seeks to utilise softness to overcome hardness, so allowing a smaller, physically weaker person to defend themselves against a larger, stronger opponent.
