Medway Mermaids Synchronised Swimming Club aims to promote health and fitness through the team sport of synchronised swimming. We are a small independent synchronised swimming club run entirely on the goodwill of our coaches and volunteers. There are no paid posts at our club.
The club has a fun and friendly atmosphere where athletes can develop to their full potential at their own pace.
Our members train to achieve recreational level awards and to take part in competitions.
A yearly showcase is held to display their achievements to parents and friends.
Saturday 11 – 12noon – flexibility land training
12 – 2:30pm – pool training (finish times vary dependent on team)
Tuesday 7 – 8:30pm – pool training (by invitation)
Land training is an important part of our sport and all swimmers are encouraged to attend the Saturday session. We occasionally “buy in” specialist coaches for these sessions and these have included dance and Zumba in the past.
Our pool training sessions are split into three parts; stamina, figures and routines. Without stamina and figure training the routines would not be possible. Training plans are tailored weekly to the upcoming events such as competition or the show. Swimmers are placed in teams according to their ability. Synchronised swimming is a tough sport both mentally and physically and it takes many years of hard work to make it look truly effortless and graceful.
Saturday & flex – £36.50
Saturday, Tuesday and flex – £49.00
All fees include a £2 per month contribution to the costume fund and ASA membership fees.
We try very hard to keep the costs down. In a 4 week month this works out at less than £2.50 per hour which we think is exceptional value.
We train at North West Kent College, Gravesend Campus, Lower Higham Road, Gravesend, Kent, DA12 2JJ
